USA: Colorado is still our favourite US destination. Telluride is our favourite Colorado destination. With charm and appeal that’s World Class. This is the resort where we get more repeat bookings than any other we’ve been to in 28 seasons. New in 2009 they’ve opened another new ski area called Revelation Bowl adding 400 acres of skiing making a total of well over 2,000 acres. The average annual snowfall is currently a massive 789cm. More mountain facilities opening in the 2010 season, this resort doesn’t stand still.  

All of this in a resort with (wait for it) no lift lines! An amazing feat that can only be seen to be believed, and then skied of course….There’s not the usual dozens of Tour Operators that descend on this unspoilt area of Colorado.

Heli skiing, permanent race courses, huge wide open terrain, amazing groomed trails, very challenging steeps and some of the best moguls you’ll ever find. This all makes this resort a must for all levels of skier, even beginners will have the best start in the sport anyone could wish to have.

Après ski is a delight, from rooftop Jacuzzis to Back Country Skidoo trips. This resort is an absolute must at least once in your life. However, be warned, you might just get hooked. We did and wish we discovered Telluride a few years sooner.

Daily flights into Telluride’s own Airport are possible. Alternatively, Montrose is under 1 ½ hours away to your Hotel front door.

Andorra: Soldeu-El Tarter, (our base in Andorra) opened a new ski area in 2000/01 the Canillo valley. Expanding was on the cards again in 2003/04 when the ‘link’ to the rest of the local resorts was complete. This vast area proved to be an instant success, it was named ‘Grand Valira’ in the winter of 2004. Providing over 390kms of great trails and skiing. With acres of off piste to add to the fun. Grand Valira is now the 6th largest ski area in Europe. Multi centre skiing, gives the opportunity to ski virtually a different Resort every day, it’s also great fun.

The awesome Arcalis Resort in the neighbouring Ordino valley also has to be experienced, testing even the best skiers. If you haven’t been to the resorts ‘we’ choose in Andorra within the last two years, you will be very, very surprised to see how this small (and a little scruffy around the edges) country is now sharp enough to impress even the most difficult to please journalists. Millions have been invested into the lift infrastructure, hotels and restaurant/eating facilities. Getting there is also quicker, new dual carriageways and tunnels cut the transfer time from the airports. There are more quality hotels and facilities opening annually in this winter destination.
